AJROTC LEADS PACK FOR ESPANOLA CITY FALL CLEAN UP 2018

By Major M.F. Gonzales

Members of the Espanola Valley High School Army Junior ROTC program, once again participated in the annual Fall City of Espanola Clean Up day on 27 October, 2018.  The EVHS-AJROTC Hornet Battalion annually provides the biggest number of volunteers to support this clean up.  This year 86 cadets from Espanola Valley  High School participated in the clean up to represent the high school and district at this event.  Part of the AJROTC curriculum is a mandatory requirement, by the Army, to participate in 40 hours of community service to their school and community.

Every year the EVHS AJROTC is the largest organization and “only organization” from EVHS and EPS that supports the community and is visible in the community of Espanola in all major events.  These cadets “Lead the Pack” of school organizations that gives 100% plus to the city of Espanola, thanks to the collaboration between Major Gonzales the Senior Army Instructor  and Judge Steven Salazar of the Espanola Municipal Teach Court.
